The California Association of Realtors CAR showed the Home Median Price by County for December 2019. The results show interesting facts: The three counties with higher median prices are San Mateo ($1.475 Million), San Francisco ($1.45 Million), and Marin ($1.3 Million). The three counties with lower median prices are Lassen ($247,500), Tehama ($237,500), and Siskiyou ($225,000).
Compared with December 2018, the counties with a higher increase in the home median price are Siskiyou (23%), Lassen (19%) and Del Norte (13%). The counties with a higher decrease in the home median price are Mono (-26%), Santa Barbara (-8%) and Tehama (-7%).
In Los Angeles County, the single-family home has a median price of $641,340 9% higher than December 2018. Orange County has the highest home median price in SoCal $840,000. Kern County has the lowest home median price in SoCal $262,900
Our California State is big enough to have also these big differences in median home prices. So before thinking about living in the urban areas, think about moving to rural areas where you still can find affordable houses.
These median prices are generated from a survey of more than 90 associations of REALTORS® throughout the state, and represent statistics of existing single-family detached homes only.
