A recent report from Property Shark, says California homes 70% of the priciest top Zip Codes in America. Only 10 states nest the top zip codes list. A good explanation might be the number of millionaires living in our state. The golden state brights for its 189 billionaires and the 1,147,251 millionaire households.
To determine the most expensive zip codes in the U.S., Property Shark looked at residential transactions closed between January 1, 2021, and October 22, 2021, taking into account condos, co-ops, and single- and two-family homes.
The Golden State originated 70% of all of the zip codes on a list of top127 ones, including six of the top 10 priciest. Los Angeles County has 21 top zip codes.

The Most Expensive Zip Code
The most expensive Zip Code in America is CA 94027, Atherton located in San Mateo County. Atherton honors this position for the fifth straight year in a row.
Five factors help this record in Atherton:
- Atherton has a population of 7000+ people and was incorporated in 1923. Its real wealth came from their neighbors: the Silicon Valley venture capitalists.
- Atherton has a preferable location It is just minutes from downtown Menlo Park, Palo Alto, and Redwood City.
- Their zoning policy allows avoids multifamily housing or commercial activity. Instead, they have space for recreation where private country clubs rest.
- Their zoning policy favors big lots: regularly allows homes to be on at least 1 acre, except on a few streets with smaller lots that existed before the requirement. Here mansions and estates are welcome.
- The city counts with a splendid security system: Half of their residents have their alarm systems wired into the police station.
New York, New York
New York is the second state with 17 top zip codes in the ranking. The zip code 11962 Sagaponack, NY is the third zip code in America with a $5.0M median price located in Suffolk County.
