Studio City, California is a neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles, California, in the southeast San Fernando Valley, just west of the Cahuenga Pass, on the north slope of the Santa Monica Mountains. Originally known as Laurelwood, in 1927, Mack Sennett began building a new studio on 20 acres. The area around the studio was named Studio City.
Studio City has a strategic location. The neighborhood is surrounded partially by the Hollywood (US Highway 101) and is adjacent to the State Route 134 to the east and State Route 170 to the north, and the Metro Red and Orange Lines.
As a community that was born out of the entertainment industry, Studio City is regarded as the “Jewel of the Valley” attracting actors, musicians, and writers and serving as a hub of the San Fernando Valley and a gateway to the Westside and Hollywood.
The main attraction in the neighborhood is Universal Studios, one of the best attractions for tourists. You have also Universal City Walk, where you can find several active night events. You also find the Studio City Farmers’ Market every Sunday. Studio City also counts with parks and trails like Coldwater Canyon Park, the perfect place to take that special someone, and the North ValleyHeart Riverwalk.
According to the 2000 Census, the neighborhood had a total population of over 34,034 and is considered the historic home of the cinema and tv stars. It is also considered among the lowest population densities for the city of Los Angeles.
Housing Market Analysis
In the last 12 months, the house median prices vary from $1.47M to $2.25M, while the condo median prices vary from $627K to $725K. The attached graph will show you the median price evolution in the last 13 months.
The median price for 2019 was $1.66M for houses and $688K for Condos. In 2019, the max house sold price was $7.0M; the min house sold price was $740K. The max condo sold price was $1.13M; the min condo sold price was $380K.
Last year, the months with high activity were August with 58 homes sold, May with 52 homes sold, and October with 46 homes sold.
